I felt at ease, connected with you and with myself, I felt safe, heard and accompanied.

One of the major breakthroughs I had was when I was lying down on my belly, relaxing the organs and saying “haaaaa”.

I felt such a deep connection with my body at that moment, gravity pulling me in, feeling really supported by the floor, connecting with my breath, to my guts, and feeling such an intense connection. I felt it a while after the class.

Body-Mind Centering® workshops are for body explorers and curious humans who want to learn more about life and themselves in relation to others and their environment through the language of the body.
Open to people who like to move, dancers, performers, movement practitioners, bodyworkers and anyone with a body and a desire to learn.

What Are Somatic Explorations and Body-Mind Centering® Workshops?

These workshops focus on movement & vocal explorations and embodied anatomy for body-workers, dancers, yoga practitioners, and anyone interested in learning more about their body and themselves in an experiential way.

They encourage curiosity, open-mindedness, creative learning and fun. They are based on Meryem’s current studies of Body-Mind Centering® and dance/voice improvisation techniques. In these workshops, we learn to sense our somatic experience from the body, directly from our tissues, so we can be more present in our body, slow down, give our brain a break, enjoy our animal body and connect to its innate intelligence and wisdom.

Each workshop can include:

I really wanted to thank you for these amazing classes Meryem. I’ve never done a “physical exercise/practice” where I felt so at peace with myself and my body and where I experienced as much connection with my body. Everything was smooth, had different angles, depths in the movement, and made us look into our experience as human beings, moving our body in the space around us, feeling the space around us, feeling the space inside us, and just relating to life.

Who is Meryem?

Meryem Alaoui smiling

Born and raised in Morocco, Meryem Alaoui is a professional dancer, a somatic movement educator and an embodiment & desires coach living in Toronto.

A graduate of The School of Toronto Dance Theatre and the Ahimsa Yoga Teacher Program, she’s been studying Body-Mind Centering® since 2016, an integrated and embodied approach to movement, the body and consciousness.

Meryem loves helping people connect deeply to who they are, through their bodies in the present moment, by guiding them to trust their own experience and their curiosity.

The weekly series of somatic workshops became a touchstone for me to slow down and connect with myself in a safe, calm environment. I noticed a positive shift in my sleep, especially when I could replay a class in the evening before bed.
Meryem’s gentle guidance and simple yet effective movements brought a greater sense of ease and space into the rest of my day. She’s a knowledgeable and gifted teacher with much wisdom to share.
